Job Title: ESL Co-Teacher
Requirements:
? TESOL/TEFL certification or equivalent ESL teaching qualification.
? Previous experience in teaching ESL, preferably in a primary school setting.
? Knowledge of Phonics teaching strategies for Asian learners
? Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum is an advantage.
? Knowledge of interactive and incremental assessment strategies with appropriate rewarding systems
? Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
? Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
? Inter-Cultural sensitivity and a passion for working with young learners.
Key Responsibilities:
? Collaborative planning aligned with the English and IB curriculum
Co-teach classes by:
? Leading activities
? Maintaining good classroom behavior
? Providing additional support and guidance to students
? Conducting ongoing assessments and documenting attainments
? Offering bilingual clarifications of key terms, grammar and vocabulary
? Providing local cultural contexts to enhance students' understanding while facilitating awareness of local perspectives
? Providing students with key strategies for self- study and boosting memory
? Maintaining an overall balance of local and global knowledge exchange for holistic learning experiences.
Local Co-Teachers are also expected to:
? Meet with other local co-teachers and track the progress of teaching strategies and assessments and share their findings.
? Assist in the preparation classroom materials and resources.
? Contribute to the preparation of reports on student performance and progress.
? Provide feedback to students and parents as needed.
? Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on best practices in ESL education.
? Promote an understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity within the classroom.
? Support students’ integration into the school community and help them navigate cultural differences.
? Track the progress and completion of ManageBac
? Maintain the order and presentation of student portfolios
